About us

Hono Ki Te Ora

What is Hono Ki Te Ora?

Hono Ki Te Ora — meaning Connecting to Wellbeing — is a free mental health navigation and support service for children and young people aged 5–24 and their whānau across Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes district.

We are a point of connection for mental health and addiction support in the region. This means that no matter how you reach us, or who refers you, we will help connect you to the right support — whether that's within our own team or through the wider network of supports and services.

Hono Ki Te Ora is built on the principle of connecting people to the right support at the right time.

A programme of ADL Limited

Hono Ki Te Ora is led by ADL Limited, a not-for-profit organisation with over 30 years of experience delivering mental health and addiction services across the lower South Island.

ADL also operates Thrive Services, providing community mental health support across Otago and Southland. Thrive is a key partner within the Hono Ki Te Ora network.

Rarangahia ngā ara hauora — exploring pathways to wellbeing — reflects the spirit of Hono Ki Te Ora: that the journey to health looks different for everyone, and we're here to help you find yours.

Built with our community

Hono Ki Te Ora was shaped through community workshops held across Queenstown, Wānaka and Cromwell in December 2025. Local providers, community organisations, iwi, and whānau came together to share what they needed from a mental health navigation service.

The themes were clear: people need an easy point of contact; they need support that is culturally responsive; they need to be able to tell their story just once; and they need services that collaborate rather than duplicate. Hono Ki Te Ora is our response to those needs.

We serve the whole region

Our Guides are based across the region, ensuring accessible support wherever you are — from Queenstown and Wānaka to Alexandra, Cromwell, Roxburgh and Ranfurly.

We recognise the unique challenges of rural and remote living — distance, cost, and isolation can all be barriers. That's why we offer mobile and outreach support alongside in-person services.
